BENV1010 - Week 8 Studio Activities

BENV1010 - Communications in the Built Environment Week 8 Studio Activities

Outcome(s); 3 photoshopped photos of a single model produced in previous weeks

The first photoshop was inspired by Colorbond roofing ads that I had recently seen. As the ads focussed on showing the texture and form of products I thought it would be a good reference point from which to base the texture, colour, and shadows for the first photoshop. This image by far took the most time but I believe that it is the best image I produced throughout this task.

---

In the second photoshoped image I wanted to use a texture that would be more effected by the perspective and orientation of the model. After playing around with the perspective warp for a while I believe that I was able to get the wood texture to face the way I wanted, however I dont think the shadow matches the profile of the model properly which makes it seem even more out of place.

---

For the third and final photoshop I wanted to achieve the same thing that I had set out to do in the second, but this time to a higher quality. I chose a texture that I thought would be more forgiving if I didn't perfectly align them perfectly and selected a background where that texture would fit appropriatly. Despite the edges looking sharp and the shadow still looking off, I am happy with the end result.

---

After finding out that I was supposed to use a model of " dream room", the photoshopped images have to be re-done so that they fit the brief. This was a big waste of time.

---

After not meeting the brief for the first three images, I started over using a seperate 1:50 scale model of the exterior of  my "dream room". Taking inspiration from the previous photoshopped images I re-completed the task. The first image was heavily based from the previous first image (using the same textures and background). I also added windows as a feature to identify a form of scale for the model. I am satisfied with how it turned out however I believe that the shadow and the overall perspective of the model are not completely correct.

---

The second image utilised the form of an existing building within the background. I picked textures that would mimic the look of the existing house but not distort because of the size. I used the plants and foliage of the background image to embed the model within the image which I believe worked well. I am happy with how this image turned out but believe that I could better it given more time.

---

The third and final image of this task incorerates part of the background image within the model. From what I learnt in the previous photoshopped image, I wanted to embed/ connect the model to the background so that it blended in more. I created my own texture for the walls using a repeated segment of the original background building. I also repurposed the sliding doors/ windows in the final image. I am satisfied with how this image turned out and my only major critisism is that the exterior walls look bare (so I could include elements such as windows or trellesis).

Final Outcome; 6 photoshopped images, 3 of which meet the brief
